need the right mobile phone for KYTE
A few month ago I read saw at WOLF the embedded Kyte player - and I liked it, especially because this service enables you to post pictures and videos from the mobile phone. As the biggest mobile operator in Switzerland invested some money in decentral.tv I should be able to use the service for free, no fee for data usage (actually, I got myself a swisscom prepaid SIM card with CHF 10,-).
So far so good: as the kyte java applikation is not supported by every mobile phone, I decided toget buy a Sony Ericsson K750i on a online auction. I got the phone a few days ago, downloaded the applet and started creating my own channel. I must say, the funcionality is just amazing. Web and mobile interface work seamless, the chat function on every show is quick and fun. BUT: when I tried to upload my first video from my phone, I found out that I can't find "QuickVid*" in my phone menu (and I definitly don't want to post the video using the e-mail or the Desktop). So I wrote them and got this answer: (...)Unfortunatey, the K750i is not able to support the video feature. Basically, it’s a too old phone. (SonyEricsson Phones must have at least JP 7, this phone has only JP5). Long story short: There is nothing we can do about it. Newer SonyEricsson Phones have JP7. The K800 should be supporting our video feature. (...) I never asked myself what version of java platform I have, so I had to look up here in wikipedia to understand the whole story. - I have to say, I am disappointed, I was so keen to post videos and now I can't...
p.s. Anybody want to swap phones? pls let me know.
