noch ein Review (auf Deutsch und mit den - hoffentlich - richtigen Fotos).

Offiziell ist der neue Spross der N-Serie - das N82 - schon erhältlich, gesehen habe ich es noch in keinem Geschäft, auch im Online Versand ist es offenbar noch nicht lieferbar:

Ich schreib es trotzdem auf meinen Wunschzettel fürs Christkind, auch wenn es vielleicht ein Luftschloss bleibt... ;-))

Durch einen Hinweis auf der Flickr Site von SMI hab ich mir ShoZu näher angeschaut, schliesslich bin ja ein grosser Verfechter vom unterwegs posten (hier auf twoday.net und blogr.com mache ich es via email, eh klar). Was kann das ShoZu? Warum ShoZu auf dem Mobiletelefon installieren?
Folgende Ausganglage: ich mache ein paar nette Bilder mit dem Kamera und als umtriebiger (?) Benutzer von diversen social networks, möchte ich diese Bilder nicht bei jedem account individuell hochladen, sondern mit einem Click ein cross-posting auslösen. nota bene: der Begriff cross-posting ist bei mir negativ konnotiert, schliesslich bekomme ich öfters e-mails mit dem hinweis "sorry for cross-posting" sprich mail an mehrer Dutzend Empfänger... - Anyway. ShoZu bietet eine beeindruckend Liste von Destinations, ein Teil davon im Screenshot rechts. Nicht aufgeführte Services, die aber eine E-Mail Schnittstelle haben, lassen sich ebenfalls hinzufügen (einziger Nachteil: man kann kein Subject definieren, wie zum Beispiel "upload" - aber das nur am Rande). ShoZu ermöglicht dir also einen komfortablen upload vom cell phone, via Mobilnetz, WLAN oder ActiveSync, je nach Modell. ShoZu arbeitet im Hintergrund und ermöglicht sogar ein rotating der Bilder vor dem uplaod.
Die Jungs von Kyte haben mich gefragt: Lass mich wissen was dir an ShoZu besser / schlechter gefaellt. Hier meine Antwort: ich denke es geht hier nicht um ein vergleich, schliesslich handelt es sich um komplett anderen service => uploads auf verschiedene social networks- my suggestion: add KYTE.TV in the ShoZu Destination list, this would make it easier publishing things on the kyte channel. natürlich gibt bereits eine möglichkeit, indem bei ShoZu eine e-mail Destination mit der e-mail vom kyte channel hinzugefügt wird, aber das hat bei mir komischerweise dann doch nicht funktioniert (vielleicht war die show pending und fand den Freigabe Knopf auf kyte.tv nicht...) Zur Zeit kann ich via ShoZu cross-posting auf youtube, blip.tv, etc. machen, ich denke da gehört KYTE auch dazu. Vorallem die Konkurrenzsituation zu blip.tv macht so ein Schritt notwendig. Noch ein Wort zu Blip: dieser service bietet ja selbst cross-posting an, videos einmal bei blip hochladen und automatisch auf anderen sites posten bzw. sogar twitter notification aussenden, das funktioniert wirklich, vgl. mein Tweet hier.

p.s. mein (traum-) szenario ist folgendes: N82 mit GPS und automatischem geo tagging der hochgeladenen Bilder durch ShoZu, das wär's. (see my comment here)

A few month ago I read saw at WOLF the embedded Kyte player - and I liked it, especially because this service enables you to post pictures and videos from the mobile phone. As the biggest mobile operator in Switzerland invested some money in decentral.tv I should be able to use the service for free, no fee for data usage (actually, I got myself a swisscom prepaid SIM card with CHF 10,-).

So far so good: as the kyte java applikation is not supported by every mobile phone, I decided to get buy a Sony Ericsson K750i on a online auction. I got the phone a few days ago, downloaded the applet and started creating my own channel. I must say, the funcionality is just amazing. Web and mobile interface work seamless, the chat function on every show is quick and fun. BUT: when I tried to upload my first video from my phone, I found out that I can't find "QuickVid*" in my phone menu (and I definitly don't want to post the video using the e-mail or the Desktop). So I wrote them and got this answer: (...)Unfortunatey, the K750i is not able to support the video feature. Basically, it’s a too old phone. (SonyEricsson Phones must have at least JP 7, this phone has only JP5). Long story short: There is nothing we can do about it. Newer SonyEricsson Phones have JP7. The K800 should be supporting our video feature. (...) I never asked myself what version of java platform I have, so I had to look up here in wikipedia to understand the whole story. - I have to say, I am disappointed, I was so keen to post videos and now I can't...

During a few weeks, I was checking prices of WIFI Internet Radio Devices, I had a look at Sqeezebox, Noxon Players from Terratec, Sagem Dual Radio distribuited by Medion and many others (for an overview I quite liked the list of "music players" on TwonkyVision and the choice on K55)
Anyway, if I consider the relative poor displays and basic navigation possibilities, all these devices are far TOO EXPENSIVE, the one I would like the most costs about 450,- CHF, the Logitech Squeezbox is not much cheapter either and the battery powered Revo Pico seems to be overpriced as well (see this review on Neuerdings). But now I found an Internet Radio available in the UK for less then 100,- CHF! The Logik IR 100. That's cool. I got the device last night, plugged it in, checked the MAC Address on the Display for updating my filter list. The radio connected to my wifi network and downloaded the station list from RECIVA - really easy set up. Follow up with photos and more details about the device coming up.

p.s. hurry up! The Independent published an article yesterday:
The winner (...) Why would you spend more? For an internet radio? (...) You wouldn't want to give your granny a new wireless for Christmas only to find that she didn't have, er, wireless. that's right. haahaaa....

I signed up on RECIVA - now I can add the LOGIK device to my user account and define my own streams and favourite stations via web. See screenshot below:

RECIVA is straight forward, the community looks a bit UK biased... there seem to be new functions and features every week, need a few days to proof funcionality / interaction between RADIO and WEB interface.

As I reported in February this year I bought a Panasonic Lumix Camera. Lately I had some problems with the lense lid: it didn't open fast enough when I turn the camera on and didn't close when the lense moved back into the camera body. As warrenty period is not forever and I don't know if the problem could get more serious I decided to send the camera to Panasonic Service Center. So, no pictures in the next few days, aahhhh, what a relief ;-))

End of last year I bought a Siemens IP Phone and I am very happy with it, already thought about buying a second haedset handset (to expensive though). Anyway, there is new version of this Gigaset IP Phone, check this review (in German) and this page called "gigaset.net"

You don't need to download files. The firmware is updated directly online by the Gigaset C450 IP. You can easily initiate the update by three steps:
1. Menu Settings » Base » Firmware Update
2. Enter base station system PIN (default setting: 0000)
3. Press the display key "Yes" to start the download
If your firmware is already up to date, the handset informs you. No action is needed then. sounds easy, doesn't it?

Da ich mir nicht sicher war, ob mein Telefonbuch am Handset und die VOIP Einstellungen im Webclient erhalten bleiben, habe ich (bis jetzt) auf das Firmware update verzichtet. Schliesslich funktioniert das Telefon wunderbar und ein gigaset.net Gesprächspartner habe ich nicht.

The following scenario is becoming reality: all the RSS feeds offline on my handheld (Pocket PC Phone Edition windows mobile 5.0 based) and when I access my feeds on the Desktop I only see the ones I didnt read on the handheld. The NewsgatorGO product offer this sync function, even with the new webbased reader Newsgator Online (still beta - and much slower than the google reader). I even tried to buy (!) the software yesterday beacause they sent out the following promotion (see image from e-mail newsletter).
But I didn't get the Software in the end because the following message poped up.
Cannot find promo code, expired code, or redeemed too many times. So I continue using the trial version as long as possible (maybe reinstall again) and hope to find a mobile version that syncs with my Google Feed Reader. I am still dreaming about a ferfect world (of feed reading experience).

May 31st was the last day of the promotion - I sent an e-mail to Orders @ Newsgator, no answer at all (LikeIt...?).
pps. the product life cycle doesn't make people happy, SMI wrote last year this posting about the up(?)grade of Feeddemon.
update 04.06.07: got a feedback from Newsgator, they sent me a new promotion code, but I am not sure yet if it will work, the code is about 25 caracters long...
update 07.06.07: it worked, I spent USD 33 for two licence keys (mobile version and FeedDemon), not bad. As I am in direct contact by mail, I got feedback about my questions:

• Q: if I read all posts from a feed, the feed doesnt show in tree anymore. how can I choose between "all" and "updated". the web based version or other products do offer this display feature and I would expect the same from the GO Version. A: That was done for memory conservation reasons. Before you do a sync any feeds with unread articles still can be viewed but after syncing they get tossed. We are doing all we can to keep the memory footprint minimal and this seemed like a good compromise.
• Q: how can I download pictures when I sync and look at them when I read the post offline. So far, when I opened the post, the handheld tried to establish a connection over the mobile network. I know, I could choose "go offline" wihin the post. A: Images and embedded video are stripped from the feed before it is sent to the mobile reader.

I have to write them back, espacially beacause in my opionion the answer nr. 2 is not correct. I see images if the pocket pc is connected by cable, mobile network or WIFI. As soon the connection is disabled the pictures disappear, so there is no caching. - FYI: in the settings I checked the box "show images", so I would expect to see the images even if I am offline (memory issues are not really the point if you choose the memory card as storage location).
