Ich kenne niemanden, der wirklich gerne zum Zahnarzt geht... Das Bohren ist defintiv unangenehm, auch mit Betäubung. Es ist schon ein paar Jahre her, seit ich die letzte Füllung bekommen habe, heute Donnerstag war es wieder so weit. Während ich im Wartezimmer sass, stach mir folgender Titel ins Auge:
Quantitative in-vivo Untersuchungen der marginalen Adaption von gemischten Klasse-V-Restaurationen Dies also der Titel der Dissertation von meinem neuen Zahnarzt. Weckt so ein Diplom im Wartezimmer nun Vertrauen bei den Patienten oder klingt das eher nach komplizierten, schmerzhaften Operationen mit Vollnarkose? Ich weiss es nicht... Die Praxis ist ganz neu, modernste Technik (z.B. "digitales Röntgen" - wie das genau funktioniert, kann ich mir nicht vorstellen). - Kurz: Ich habs überlebt.

In genau 24 Stunden beginnt die Grillparty, zumindest gemäss meiner Einladung. Wenn ich aus dem Fenster schaue, bin ich leicht verunsichert, die Prognose für morgen Samstag hilt mir auch nicht weiter, die Meldung lautet lapidar "keine Daten" (siehe screenshot unten oben).

Am Montag traf ein Päcklein ein, am Dienstag überbrachte der Postbote ein Paket und heute Mittwoch - an meinem Geburtstag - lag ein Päcklein aus Mexico im Briefkasten. Aber ich bin enttäuscht, I am disappointed because:
all these presents are for MAYA, not for me! waahhhh, that's not fair, nearly every day she is getting a present, the parents don't get anything. It is amazing how many (small) t-shirts we got, please remember she is a really big girl - it is too late to tell u that, I know.

Ein Jahr älter - so geht das. Hier die Reihenfolge der Personen, die mir heute Mittwoch (zuerst) gratuliert haben:

1. meine Frau (she is my number 1 forever)
2. XING (via e-mail)
3. mein Boss in der Firma (dank einer Erinnerung im Outlook)

Wir leben in einer modernen Zeit...

obwohl ich das file im quick time player um 90° gedreht habe, ging diese rotate information bei der konvertierung von BLOGR verloren. Schade. Muss ich mal nach Wien melden...

Die Schlagzeile auf dem Titelblatt der Cicero Juni Ausgabe lautet "Die Klima-Lüge" und im Heft finden sich gleich vier, fünf Artikel /zB dieser hier), die Tatsachen verdrehen und Lügen verbreiten. Unverschämt! Hier mein Leserbrief: Der Titel der Juni Ausgabe ist eine offene Provokation an alle naturverbundenen Menschen, sowas soll in meinen Augen der Präsident der USA verkünden aber bitte nicht eine seriöse Zeitschrift aus dem Hause Ringier. Ich bin enttäuscht. Gut, habe ich das Heft noch nie gekauft. Ich würde es auch nicht wieder tun.
update vom 08.06: von wegen "Magazin für politische Kultur" - weder der Kommentar noch mein Leserbrief wurde auf dieser Seite freigeschalten, wo bleibt da die Kritikfähigkeit und Diskussionskultur, liebe Reaktion?!

update: kaum zu glauben, aber der Mini Computer war heute morgen noch auf dem Fahrrad, nochmal Glück gehabt.

The following scenario is becoming reality: all the RSS feeds offline on my handheld (Pocket PC Phone Edition windows mobile 5.0 based) and when I access my feeds on the Desktop I only see the ones I didnt read on the handheld. The NewsgatorGO product offer this sync function, even with the new webbased reader Newsgator Online (still beta - and much slower than the google reader). I even tried to buy (!) the software yesterday beacause they sent out the following promotion (see image from e-mail newsletter).
But I didn't get the Software in the end because the following message poped up.
Cannot find promo code, expired code, or redeemed too many times. So I continue using the trial version as long as possible (maybe reinstall again) and hope to find a mobile version that syncs with my Google Feed Reader. I am still dreaming about a ferfect world (of feed reading experience).

May 31st was the last day of the promotion - I sent an e-mail to Orders @ Newsgator, no answer at all (LikeIt...?).
pps. the product life cycle doesn't make people happy, SMI wrote last year this posting about the up(?)grade of Feeddemon.
update 04.06.07: got a feedback from Newsgator, they sent me a new promotion code, but I am not sure yet if it will work, the code is about 25 caracters long...
update 07.06.07: it worked, I spent USD 33 for two licence keys (mobile version and FeedDemon), not bad. As I am in direct contact by mail, I got feedback about my questions:

• Q: if I read all posts from a feed, the feed doesnt show in tree anymore. how can I choose between "all" and "updated". the web based version or other products do offer this display feature and I would expect the same from the GO Version. A: That was done for memory conservation reasons. Before you do a sync any feeds with unread articles still can be viewed but after syncing they get tossed. We are doing all we can to keep the memory footprint minimal and this seemed like a good compromise.
• Q: how can I download pictures when I sync and look at them when I read the post offline. So far, when I opened the post, the handheld tried to establish a connection over the mobile network. I know, I could choose "go offline" wihin the post. A: Images and embedded video are stripped from the feed before it is sent to the mobile reader.

I have to write them back, espacially beacause in my opionion the answer nr. 2 is not correct. I see images if the pocket pc is connected by cable, mobile network or WIFI. As soon the connection is disabled the pictures disappear, so there is no caching. - FYI: in the settings I checked the box "show images", so I would expect to see the images even if I am offline (memory issues are not really the point if you choose the memory card as storage location).

Die Hochzeit in Aachen am vergangen Freitag war wunderbar, Wetter und Stimmung super, erste Bilder hier. Maya war auch ganz brav. Wir hatten (fast) alles dabei: Kühlbox, Kühlelemente, abgepumpte Milch in Toni Gläschen, Nuggi für das Flasche, ... aber kein Zwischenring! Shit. So musst ich ihr das ganze manuell einflössen, hat zur Not funktioniert... siehe Bild hier.

Yes,...at least for a few days in the summer. We are looking forward to visit our "zweite Heimat" in the East, enjoying the hot summer in Vienna. Check out the trip, at least that's the plan:

• 13.07. Getting the car at Theus (it will be a big van, see foto below) and setting off via Munich to Burghausen, that's right on the border to Austria
• 15.07. Heading on to the East, we might stay somewhere on the way before we get to Vienna on Monday
• 16.07. Meeting friends and collegues from Vienna Online
• 17.07. Kino unter den Sternen, Prater, Lobau, Neuwaldegg, all the nice places we have to see again...
• 19.07. Office Party in the Pezzlgasse (to be confirmed)
• 20.07. If the Weather ist nice we might go to the Jazz Fest Wiesen, maybe just for one night. let's see.
• 25.07 Driving back, bringing the car back

On the way back, we have to collect a few things at different places (my suit at Martin's, my trolley at Gerda's, heavy boxes in the Pezzlgasse,...) I hope the car is big enough!

Gestern erschien die neue Ausgabe der InfoWeek mit dem Schwerpunkt "Web 2.0 in Unternehmen", ein einziger Beitrag ist hier online verfügbar, alles andere nur mit kostenpflichtigem Login oder in der Printausgabe. Schade! Da wird gross von Partizipation, Verlinkungen und was weiss ich geschrieben, aber selber sitzen die Medienmacher weiterhin auf ihren Papierhaufen. Kann ich nicht nachvollziehen Der Begriff "Mitmach-Web" wird auch hier weiter strapaziert, Helge hat sich in seinem Sideblog auch über dieses Unwort ausgelassen. - Zurück zum Thema - Die Herauforderungen in diesem Zusammenhang lautet: wie können Unternehmen im Bereich Projektmanagement, Knowledge Mgmt und Collaboration von den Möglichkeiten dieser neuen Möglichkeiten profitieren. In grossen Unternehmen sind in diesem Bereich Dinosaurier wie LiveLink, LotusNotes, etc. im Einsatz und es ist mE nicht trivial, unter solchen Rahmenbedingungen die Benefits von Web 2.0 Anwendungen aufzuzeigen bzw. in der Praxis umzusetzen.

ich hab auf der InfoWeek Webseite noch etwas rumgeklickt und konnte folgende Infos dem Portal entlocken: Inhaltsverzeichnis des Schwerpunktes "Web 2.0 in Unternehmen" - vgl. Screenshot in diesem Beitrag. Sehr interessant ist diese (hochauflösende!) Tabelle mit dem Titel "Wikis, Blogs und Social Networking für den Unternehmenseinsatz", die auch in der Printausgabe abgebildet ist. Plus die ausführliche Version bzw. Printversion der online verfügbaren Beiträge, leider nur ein Bruchteil / Zusammenschnitt.

Monday morning: I am starting my day in a good mood because this week will be a short one, Thursday is a bank holiday and Friday is off because I worked May 1st instead. Only three days in the office, jupeeeh! - As I didn't have time to publish this link about the innovative city guide in Berne made by texetera. The headphones that come along with you mp3 player, iPod, Walkman, whatever are always bad (in terms of soundquality). As DE-BUG reported a while ago.
(...) Allerdings wird Klangveredelung immer mehr zur Rarität, mittelmäßig kodierte MP3s über billige Kopfhörer oder schlechte Lautsprecher sind für die Masse längst Normalität. Ist guter Klang in Gefahr? (...) YES - it is. Good sound is in DANGER. Even if you spend more than CHF 400,- for the device you'll get cheap headphones with it. That's how the make money... So I decided quite a while a go to spend some money for a good pair in-ear headphones. Not easy: the choice in "normal" shops is really limited, in a small town like Chur... I compared a few brands like M-AUDIO or Etymotic but in the end I went for a relatively cheap one because I didn't now how my small (!) ears would like them. Check prices of Sennheiser CX-300.
Moral der Geschichte (für Schweizer LeserInnen): per Zufall sah ich die Sennheiser dann bei m-electronics für CHF 58,- Etwas teuer als bei einer Bestellung im Netz, aber immer noch preiswerter als im Amiland, dort verlangen die rund USD 80 siehe review

Folgende Situation: etwas interessantes im Netz gelesen, dass du gerne einer Freundin, einem Bekannten zusenden möchtest. Die wenigsten verwenden einen RSS Reader, wo ein "sharen" von interessanten links sehr einfach vonstatten geht, noch weniger haben ein del.icio.us account mit der simplen aber effektiven links for you Funktionalität. Da lob ich mir das eben entdeckte Feature von Google Reader, einen interessanten Lese-Hinweis per mail zu senden, ohne umständlich eine URL ins eigene e-mail Programm zu kopieren. Einfach auf "Email" klicken, Adresse eingeben und schon kommt nicht der link sondern auch das interessante posting / der lesenswerte Artikel schön formatiert bei der Freundin an. Einfach Ausprobieren!



ps nichts ist subjektiver als die Einschätzung "interessant" - mein Interesse hat sich etwas verschoben... siehe Thema! ;-))
pps. Das G. Universum ist ja unüberschaubar gross geworden, SMI hat hier eben einige unbekannte Services verlinkt. Check out.
